| The
African
Gender Award also recognizes stakeholders from the private sector and
civil society, designated from the Award recipient country, for their
promotion of peace, gender and development. This year the Collectif
Pro-femmes/Twese Hamwe and the Banque Populaire pour la Promotion de la
Femme will be honoured.

build peace and reconcile conflicts in their communities, countries and
continent. The launch of the African Gender Forum
and the African Gender Award
were particularly important moments in the history of Femmes Africa
Solidarité, and a stepping stone towards our future goals
and
aspirations. |

The African Gender Forum
is an
opportunity to create an on-going dialogue across borders, and I am
proud of the diversity of contributions we enjoy from various
